Listen to Washing Machine. The Diamond Sea will destroy you.

As far as where to go next, if you like the later stuff Murray Street and Rather Ripped are good. If you want some more early Sonic Youth check out Confusion is Sex and Sister.

I like EVOL a lot, personally. Has two of their best songs, Shadow of a Doubt and Expressway to Yr. Skull.

I was hoping there was a second part of this thread that went something like..."a man-made grave in my backyard." I think it would have been a better thread.

You'll like Rather Ripped if you liked Sonic Nurse I think. I also love Murray Street from their output this century.

Not true. I love Sonic Nurse; I think Rather Ripped is forgettable. Go with Murray Street, but listen to Washing Machine for sure.

Incinerate is one of their best songs imo:

I love Sister-Daydream Nation-Goo, Havent heard earlier albums. Experimental Jet Set... is a good album. Ive never gotten around to listening to Dirty.
Washing Machine is good, but can take a while to really get into. Ive never gotten into A Thousand Leaves or Murray St. I like Rather Ripped but find myself playing 'Reena' and 'Incinerate' a ton but not so much the other songs.
Ive never heard Sonic Nurse or NYC Ghosts.. or misc other works.

Depends on what your favorite is. If you like Daydream Nation, get EVOL and Sister (these three are, I think, their best.) But, if you like Goo more, you should probably check out Dirty. Sonic Nurse, all roads lead right to Murray Street (one of their best). Once you listen to Washing Machine, if you like that go straight for 1000 Leaves.

Bill knows what's up. Definitely get EVOL and Sister. A Thousand Leaves has a psychedelic sound that's cool as well.

Has anyone else heard their live album from the 80's Hold That Tiger? It's a pretty incredible document of their live show around the Sister era. Tremendous energy, raw as hell performance. It's awesome. Essential for any fan, I'd say. I just kind of wish it had Daydream Nation songs on it.
