The Raven That Refused To Sing (and other stories) is the upcoming third solo album by British musician Steven Wilson, which is due to be released on 25th February 2013. The lyrics of the songs on the album take a supernatural theme. Alan Parsons, well known in part for his involvement in Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, was responsible for engineering the album.
There will be a deluxe 4 disc edition of the album, which will be "a 128 page hardback book containing lyrics and ghost stories, illustrated by Hajo Mueller". In addition to this, the album will also be available in stand alone double-vinyl, CD and blu-ray editions.
Code:
1. "Luminol" 12:10 2. "Drive Home" 7:37 3. "The Holy Drinker" 10:13 4. "The Pin Drop" 5:03 5. "The Watchmaker" 11:43 6. "The Raven That Refused to Sing" 7:57

It's hard to label his solo stuff. Art-prog-rock, maybe? I hate the label "prog" because most of it sounds cheesy to me, but SW just makes beautiful music.
His songwriting is not conventional either, so listening to a few songs here and there won't do it justice. If someone wants to give his music a fair chance, they'll have to sit down and listen to either of his albums in full.

I've had his solo records on my hard drive forever and hadn't listened to any of them until I saw this announcement. Thought his most recent one was great! I'll probably pick them both up early next year.

He needs to stop with this nonsense and put Porcupine Tree back together. I get that he has varied interests, but we are WAITING!!!
I'd say the same thing if The Incident didn't exist. I am looking forward to new Porcupine Tree at some point, but if his solo material continues to be as good as his first two solo records, I say, keep making solo records.
I already ordered the special edition of the new album... Now I just need to decide if I want the vinyl, too. I'll probably cave.
