wow that is sad. i hate reading things like this. it makes you really depressed when people who've made a positive contibution to popular music dies, leaving a void to be filled by some talentless hack.

Well I am not the guru on John Peel but he worked for the BBC music for like 30 years or something? He was known for his radio shows and brining in up and coming talent. Many bands went over to record their BBC sessions with John Peel. Two that immediatly come to mind for me are Pavement and J Mascis. I actually have the J mascis sessions Mike Watt plays bass for him during the recording.

Musicians from across the world are already starting to pay tribute. Manic Street Preachers singer James Dean Bradfield said that he’d been a huge influence.

I don't think PJ ever did I think after the late 60's and early 70's he really moved to trying to find lesser known bands and help them get on their feet. PJ kinda exploded and would not fit the type of band he usually had on i think
