Don’t think that the well-earned success of ‘Sex On Fire’ and Only By The Night has dampened the sibling rivalry between the Followill bros (and cousin). Jared admits that he felt compelled to make his mark on their fifth album.
The willowy one announced that they have been writing songs for the next record, due out next year, but each member has been asserting themselves so that lead singer and guitarist Caleb doesn’t steal all the royalties.
Jared told Yahoo!, "We started seriously writing the songs when we got back home from tour. I got a call from Caleb going, 'I'm sitting here writing the next album by myself.' And we're like, 'Oh no, you're not!'”
Gee, Jared, most people would love to dodge the responsibility of having to follow up a massive multi-platinum breakthrough album. At least if it stiffed, you can blame your bro. But no, he wants a slice of the cash that will surely pour in from the legions of new fans no matter what the quality.
He continued, "We ended up going to his house so that when the record comes out he can't go, 'Dude, I'm getting 70 per cent of this shit.'" Yikes. Cousin Matthew Followill added that the rest of the band showed up too, "We basically go to his house for the royalties."

The trajectory that this band has taken is so f'd it's comical. I remember buying their first record when they were really hip and indie and had long hair. I saw them in 2005 and they were still pretty cool. Then the last record came out, they all got emo hair and started wearing vests. Not sure why I even paid to see them again, but I saw them this spring 2009 and from that day on I hated them with a passion.
I don't think I have ever seen a band blatantly sell out as much as KOL has. The article at the beginning of this thread is just further proof that all they care about is money. Read the history of this band, none of these jerks are even real music fans.

If my son is any example of the typical band member then he shares a lot of the same attitudes as KOL and it seems pretty prevelant in all band members I know. 1. My son doesn't care who wrote the song, if he provides drums he demands a songwriting credit. His feeling is you never know what part of the song people like and that the band is a team. This is before there's really any money involved. 2. I'm a far bigger fan of music than my son. He loves playing music live and digs the whole creative process but he's not a fanatical music lover that's for sure.

That stuff's really fucking important to you? Their diminishing fashion sense?
