Every so often a band comes around that really grabs my attention and I fell that others would like them if they got a chance.
Right now that band is Bright Eyes, and it wouldn’t feel right if I let my friends & fellow music lovers go without checking out this band.
So I present to you a guide to Bright Eyes.
And this band needs a guide, because the way they release music if F’d Up.
First a little background:
Bright Eyes is Conor Oberst & whoever he can talk into playing on the record with him.
His record label is Saddle Creek (http://www.saddle-creek.com)
This label releases a lot of music featuring more then one artist. Below is a list Bright Eyes releases, but before that I’d like to give my recommendation on what to buy (in order) based on my favorite & the opinion of others I have let listen to the music.

Best Albums:
Bright Eyes - Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground
This is a great all around CD, with the highlights being:
12. Laura Laurent
3. False Advertising
7. Don't Know When But A Day Is Gonna Come

and

Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
This is one of the new cds, and it’s quite amazing. “Landlocked Blues” is probably his best song to date.
Highlights:
08. Landlocked Blues (feat. Emmylou Harris)
09. Poison Oak
06. First Day of My Life

Besides these albums I STROGLY recommend Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors
If you try the other 2 and like them then this one is next. 4. Something Vague is the best song he had written until “Landlocked Blues”

So I hope this helps anyone interested. It’s great music.

I live in Omaha, and Oberst is treated here about the way Springsteen used to be treated in Jersey. You'd think he was the biggest fucking deal in the world...I'm not so into him, although he has some really good moments. What drives me nuts is the mass of scrawny can't-hit-a-note tight-sweater-wearing-testosteroneless boys he's inspired in the local music scene. They even ruined the Tom Waits tribute night :x

False Advertising is a pretty good song, but I'm not into him that much otherwise.

I have all of his stuff burned because a friend of mine is obsessed. I think I listened to one of the records. Once.

I really don't like "Lifted..." It comes off as rather immature, the lyrics are at times childish, and the production is sloppy. However, "Im Wide Awake" is brilliant.

I greatly enjoy Bright Eyes. Very good music. I'd love to hear A Christmas Album. Is there anyway to get ahold of it anymore?

Wonderful. I hate dealing with ebay. It's a great service if you have the time, but if not, it's a pain in the ass.
