I'm partial to You're Living All Over Me over Bug, but "Freak Scene" probably is their greatest achievement. They opened with it when I saw them on tour last year, a song that they regularly save for encores, and it was incredible.

What do you think of Beyond, King?

I haven't heard Beyond yet. You can send it to me if you feel like it.

I would but my home computer is being fixed, which is the only place I have it. I think it's pretty great, considering it's been 20 years since the original lineup made an album. There might not be anything as revelatory as "Freak Scene", but it's probably as solid all around as Bug.

Really as good as Bug? I guess they're not that old by rock legend standards, so you never know.

I think it's got a very similar sound. It's got the same kind of pop leanings that Bug had, certainly not as messy as YLAOM or the self titled. Bug has probably got the edge, just because there's absolutely no fat on that record, and Beyond could probably be trimmed down a bit. It's every bit as good as I could have hoped for, though.

Not only that, it's probably their best song, imo.

Sometimes I don't thrill you,
Sometimes I think I'll kill you,
Just don't let me fuck up, will you,
'Cause when I need a friend it's still you.

One of my favorite lyrics ever.

Freak Scene is a classic.

My personal fave off of Bug is "Pond Song".
