ok so i was gonna try out yanqui tomorrow, its really trash? all I've heard is that 10 minute one off it with the war vid, i think its the second song on the disc i liked it and matt says it IS good hmm hmm
Yanqui doesn't have as much in the way of atmosphere as the rest-- no field recordings, found-sound collages or any of that stuff. I still find it quite compelling, though, and I can listen to it when I'm not really in the mood for the others.

That last record is really a lot more unsettling. Not as "pretty," if that word ever applied. They do a lot of toying with dissonance and the like, and it can feel like a rough roller coaster ride. These days I like it more than anything save lift.

I concur.
I'm so glad they're "back" (whatever that ends up meaning). Silver Mt. Zion was doing a fair job of filling the void up through Horses In the Sky, but their last 2 albums aren't very good.
