I wish I knew. I halfway wonder if they're done with godspeed as an entity. That would suck.

Yes, I've heard that Godspeed might be done, which is quite a shame.

Just finished listening to Fists, and I downloaded F#A# today, and am very excited. As for other post rock stuff, Ive heard New Zero Kanada, EITS's two albums, Sigur Ros' (), and ASMZ's Born Into Trouble. Any major ones I'm missing, sans Mogwai's Young Team, which I have and just have yet to listen to.

Explosions in the Sky have 3 albums and a soundtrack. Godspeed is awesome, but I still think they take a little to long to "climax" their songs. EITS has the timing down perfectly.

I know I know, i was just too lazy to type "main studio" instead of plain albums. I actually plan on buying the remastered HSI when it comes out this year. And yeah, EITS are my favorite of the group, both their albums being followed by (), and then GYBE's Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada.

I still need to hear F#a# or whatever the hell it's called and the rest of their material.

I actually like Godspeed better than EITS, they're more dramatic, and Gathering Storm is too beautiful for words.

I got to see these guys live in 2000 or 2001 (after the "Skinny Little Fists" album).

It was mindblowing. They played close to three hours, and you never more than a silouhette (sp??) of any of the band members.

F#A#infinity is actually their weakest IMO.

I agree. I like Skinny Fists and Slow Riot the best. Yangui is pretty good, but not as good as the aforementioned ones.

I got lucky, they played all of like 6 shows in North America, and I was lucky enough to live where they were playing.

It really is a concert experience like no other. All back lighting on the stage, so all you see is silouhette's of the performers, and they ran a movie-like video behind them throughout the performance. Very intense. Then, in their final encore, they all grabbed intruments, and paraded through the audience playing them.

Songs will get you nowhere, you need to listen to them an album at a time. Most of their albums only have 2-3 actual tracks on it. In actuality most of their work is comprised of movements, like a classical piece, and a 25 minute song can run through several movements.

I would suggest getting Lift Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven first. I think it is their most accessible work. Its a double CD, with each disc consisting of 2 tracks (so 4 tracks total). Each track being roughly 20-25 minutes.

Enjoy the second half. The first song of disc 2 (Sleep) is my favorite piece on the album.

it should be noted that despite a godspeed connection Molasses is really bad. I bough A Slow Messe a while ago and despite getting it for 8 bucks it still is a CD I haven't listened to more then 3 times. Only one good song on the whole thing
