Joy Division isn't punk.
Anyhoo, going not strictly punk but mostly punk...
The Stooges - Fun House
MC5 - Kick Out The Jams
At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command, Acrobatic Tenement
Green Day - Dookie
Pixies - Surfer Rosa, Doolittle
Sonic Youth - Goo, Daydream Nation
The Offspring - Ixnay On The Hombre, Americana, Ignition
Nirvana - In Utero, Bleach
I haven't actually heard any Ramones or The Clash albums yet.

[quote="psychobain] At The Drive-In is punk, it's just punk you have to think about. And plus, I said music that is MOSTLY punk (hence Pixies and Nirvana).
I agree there's punk influences and sounds on all these artists, but the same goes for Joy Division, actually. But like I said in my first post:

From the late 60's music that spawned the infamous genre to whatever music it has spawned.
I dunno, I just think punk music should be loud and rollicking which Joy Division is...not.

Their initial sound was more raw than what you may hear on Unknown Pleasures and Closer (the An Ideal for Living EP has some real punk on it), and they definitely were part of that whole punk movement (they opened for the Buzzcocks!).

after listening to the stooges a few years back i decided nothing else came even close to being punk, it starts and stops with iggy and the boys (don't get me wrong i love ramones, clash, etc but blitzkrieg bop after raw power? definately not punk)

The Fugs "first album" could be considered Psychedelic punk. They could barely play their instruments, couldn't sing, but spoke out and had a bunch of grassroots albums.
Mothers of Invention (Zappa's first) - "Freak out" was a precurser
and of course, MC-5
Patti Smith - Horses
"The Dolls of New York" were good punk before they became the New York Dolls
"X"
Black Flag was pretty intense punk!

Because hardcore isn't at all dumb and mindless.
