There are some good bands in scandinavia. the ones I heard mix folk with modern sounds and it is just great.

well, i guess i wonder...how does one come across it in the first place..in order to cultivate a liking for it?

well, i guess i wonder...how does one come across it in the first place..in order to cultivate a liking for it?


as far as I am concerned I get tips from friends in europe... Especially from norway. Thus, since I discovered sigur ros years ago I stepped into a new world of northern sounds and music.

If you like Sigur Ros, you should check out Stafraenn Hakon. He's a more mellow guitar/electronic artist with some folk influence that I've just started getting into.

No but seriously, if you're gonna go for some indie douche who just happens to think he uses folk music in his dumb songs don't bother. Go for some of the real stuff off NorthSide instead.
