Written on a Pearl Jam message board.

Typical late-era Stones. Keith wants to make Exile, Mick thinks he's keeping modern, and the rhythm section refuses to commit.

I agree with this guy.

Not a bad song. Sounds like a leftover from A Bigger Bang, which I enjoyed.

Isn't he a jazz drummer? I've never heard his jazz stuff.

Charlie seems to have made a pretty decent living out of it since the 60's so I'm going to say YES.

Yes, that's true -- I'd somehow forgotten. I'm almost certain he's good at that, but can't remember. Jazz drummers don't do rock drumming, and vice versa.. normally.

Charlie's done plenty of good work with the Stones. The problem is Mick's driving need to make it feel "modern." Pretty much only one route to go with that on drums.

The presence of the dynamic that made them great is still there, but its force is never felt. Keith's drug years gave Mick such a huge level of control that he basically thinks he's above the band (remember his attempt at being "the next Micheal Jackson?") and is obsessed with sounding current enough to be popular...which in and of itself is a big joke. You still have Keith's unique stamp on each track, but they're too old now to hope that Mich will suddenly start doubting his "Exile sucked" vision of the band and really let it ride.
