Ho baby - JOF is some serious shit. Above is a good album, but not in the same stratosphere as JOF

Let's face it, above was unfocused. It's really good, but it's unfocused, and there are soft spots on it which detract it from true greatness. Comparing it to Jar of Flies is rather silly in my opinion. Lifeless Dead and I Don't Know Anything are serious drags to the record.

It would have been nice if they could have sat down a little longer and cranked out two songs of the calibre of "River of Deciet" than had those earsores on there.

Yet completely relevant, given that another poster indicated that he'd rather listen to this than any AIC record, most likely because both bands share the same lead singer.

Whoa, I remember making this thread.

I'm not a hug fan of Above. It's not as great as you think a Mike / Layne album would be. I love Long Gone Day though and the November Hotel solo rocks.

You're joking right? Listening to Layne drone on over and over and over and over again about how little he knows, is to you...the very best that grunge has to offer? Did you listen to Tri-pod?

If I was some Indian kid, that had never heard grunge before, and you told me, "check this song out, it's the very best that grunge has to offer." I probably wouldn't listen to another grunge song so long as I lived.

Do you give a shit that most Grunge fans would laugh in your face because you think "I Don't Know Anything" is the best that grunge has to offer?

I don't give a shit about most things and what people think about me. But this is one department where I would feel absolutely embarrassed...

Well since in this case you're a dirty little indian kid, that's probably really hunger you're feeling.
