I use the review sites to take something I end up liking and trying to find other artists they recommend. Unfortunately I have a limited scope for music review sites. I'm looking for something that has someone who does the reviews for the album as opposed to a mass of people commenting. Pitchfork, CokeMachineGlow, Tinymixtapes (the ones i've heard mentioned the most) recommend alot of the same shit that I end up hating. I want something with a big array of reviews across a plethora of genres. If anyone could point me to some of their favourites I will check them out. As a side note, is there any site that someone knows that doesn't absolutely hate The Mars Volta's Frances and Amputechture. I love these albums and I think that is where the genre differentiation comes in for me with the aforementioned websites.

Kinda obvious, but allmusic.com

i second this; besides pfork its the only review site i visit with any regularity (and i trust all music a hell of a lot more).
Well, sometimes I agree and sometimes I don't but I don't really sense an agenda with them at least.

The only problem with AllMusic is that lots of the reviews in certain genres are written by hardcore enthusiasts. This is nice if you're already pretty learned in a genre, but it can lead to some inaccessible reccomendations otherwise.

I agree, but if you go there and read a metal review at least you know the person reviewing it is a fan of the genre and won't judge it against some ridiculous standards that shouldn't even apply. It's not perfect, but I enjoy the site.

metacritic.com is where I go to get a good overall feeling on what all the reviews are. It doesn't review the albums itself but links to all the reviews and gives a weighted average rating of them.

Anything else? I know amazon but it's useless basically lol. I occasionally look at ubl.artistdirect.com which is decent.
I used to stumble into a lot of good recommendations on amazon through their user lists and guides, but the last time I checked, they would only show half a list or whatever and I couldn't see the rest unless I added all of it to my wishlist/cart. wtf?
