SLASH CONFIRMS STONE TEMPLE PILOTS TO REFORM:
Slash has stated that after the current Velvet Revolver tour, singer Scott Weiland's band Stone Temple Pilots will be reforming.
As reported last week in Undercover, Weiland made the surprise announcement at a solo gig in Florida recently.
Velvet Revolver and former Guns 'n' Roses' guitarist Slash concurs. He told Billboard that Stone Temple Pilots will do a handful of shows.
STP broke up in 2003. Weiland, Slash and Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns 'n' Roses then formed Velvet Revolver with Dave Kushner of Suicidal Tendencies.
Velvet Revolver did will with the first album 'Contraband' but the second record Libertad went nowhere.

So there's really no new news here.

As Lee Corso says, not so fast my friend:
Velvet Revolver’s Scott Weiland Enters Rehab 2/8/08, 10:23 am EST
Following Velvet Revolver’s concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, and following his arrest for driving under the influence back in November, singer Scott Weiland voluntarily entered a rehab facility, according to a statement from the band. Weiland’s rehab stay forced the cancellation of the band’s show tonight in San Diego and jeopardizes Velvet Revolver’s planned Australian tour, even though the promoter states, “We have not been told that the tour has been affected and right now I can say that it is still 100% going ahead.” The Australia jaunt is scheduled to start February 15th, meaning that Weiland has seven days to get clean. How this affects the apparent plans for a Stone Temple Pilots reunion (and whether Weiland was just hyping an STP reunion because he was chemically altered) remain to be seen.

I wouldn't sweat this, Scotty's been in and out of rehab so much, he gets reward points every time he checks in. Besides, the rumored STP tour is later this summer, quite a ways off.

From what I heard it is not because he has fallen off the wagon. But weiland suffered a band knee injury back during the 2001 tour. He cannot take pain meds for it cause of his addiction problems. Apparently he checked in after last night's show cause his knee has been killing him and he doesn't want to fall back into addiction.

I don't see how it changes anything. STP dealt with this sort of stuff from him throughout their career. Surely they know they'll be signing up for more of it.

Regarding Army of Anyone, its on indefinite hiatus with Richard Patrick recording a new Filter record right now. If there's another AOA album in those guys obviously remains to be seen. I just want the Deleos to keep making music. I don't give a shit what band they're in (except maybe Talk Show ) so long as they keep playing. As for STP, I'd certainly hope there'll be more than just a few shows, but I'll believe in a reunion once I see them onstage again with my own two eyes.
