I was at REM at the garden tonight and what was im sure planned to be an election garden party turned into a rather intriguing pity party. BTW this post is a transcript of mine from Murmurs so some stuff might be in response to things and make no sense on its own

setlist

End Of The World
Begin the Begin
So Fast So Numb
Welcome To The Occupation
Animal
Boy In The Well
Get Up
The Outsiders
Cuyahoga
High Speed Train
The One I Love
Sweetness Follows
Imitation Of Life
I Wanted To Be Wrong
Losing My Religion
Final Straw
Walk Unafraid
Life and How to Live it

-ENCORE-
WTFK
Drive
LNY
Electrolite
Permanant Vacation
Im Gonna DJ
Man On The Moon

there was no world leader pretend ( I wish) its too bad cause it really would have fit the mood.

I too was there and it had a real intense pissed off mood to it. I knew it was going to be a good night when they ripped into by the far the most agressive End of the world theyve probably ever done. they even cut the "its time i had some time alone" part.

the last time i saw them was at jones beach last year. these two concerts could not have been more different. the election has clearly taken its toll. Where last year michael was bubbly, talkative playful, tonight he barely talked at all. he was completely into the political stuff but didnt even want to be onstage for the hits. His voice cracked about 20 times during losing my religion. i feel that it would have been best to just drop those songs since his indifference on them rubbed me the wrong the way.

on the same token Wanted to be wrong, final straw, occupation, sweetness follows, get up, life and how to live it were so good. so fucking good.

unfortunately my old boss happened to sit directly behind me (what are the odds) and he ruined the second half of the show screaming at the top of his lungs things like "HEY GAYMO!!!!!!!!!!! WHERES THE LOVE WHY ARE YOU BEING A PISSED OFF QUEER BITCH!!!!! ITS YOUR JOB GAYMO!!!!!!!!! THAT NOBODY TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO WAS FUCKING WEAK"

he also saw them in 2003 at jones and seemed to think tonight sucked and to be honest mike looked like he was enjoying being out there tonight as much as he would a root canal.

only other complaint can we stop closing out shows with permanent vacation and DJ. please espoecially tonight World Leader, flowers of guatemala, little america, ignoreland, all would have capped off the night much better.

good show, very good. but definitely uneven
