Anyone see their recent gigs on the east coast? My friend saw them. Good shit. There's a record from 8/12 which sounds really cool, but I think they now sell their live recordings so KC concerts won't be popping up on Dime anymore.

I'm rocking out to this band right now

I've been listening to nothing but KC and Yes lately... Just bought ProjeKct 2's Space Groove, and it's got some really nice spacy grooves. And Island and Lizard are in the mail... After that I'll only be missing Poseidon and Beat.
I think we need a King Crimson album ranking thread.

I was tempted to go, mostly to see Gavin, but it didn't work out. I have the Park West (8/7) download and it's pretty good. There's a few clams, but Pat and Gavin are a great dual drummer team, and their playing makes it all worth while. For me anyway.
There's more pictures and reviews of the tour at http://www.dgmlive.com, but Fripp's and Tony's comic take on the whole affair are by far the funniest.

Congratulations on all your recent KC (and Yes) acquisitions. Two of my favorite bands. Beat is a must have to complete your 80's KC lineup. It's probably my 2nd favorite of those three. I would rank Discipline first, definitely. Then Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair. Kind of hard to choose between those two.
I'll have to work on a full album ranking, but that will take some time. It's been a while since I've listened to any of the really early (pre 1972) stuff, and I don't have The ConstruKction of Light. I can say I like their last album The Power to Believe a lot though. It would rank quite high in my list.

although i love many Yes albums (The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Relayer, some of Going For the One), i pretty much prefer KC's body of work from that period. the 3 albums featuring John Wetton are very hard to beat in my opinion, The Great Deceiver box-set being a good reminder of how ahead of their time they were.

KC debut >>>>>>>>>> Yes debut
But then Yes just got better and better, soaring to heights that most bands never reach. Until Fripp lured Bruford away, at which point everything changed. KC has always been the better band since then IMO. Not just because of Bruford, but I think the style of both bands changed dramatically after that. While Yes retained a lot of their previous success with the live shows, they kind of lost their edge after that, and the next few albums where just not as good. KC on the other hand, was fresh and exciting and on the cutting edge of music again, with a solid focused energy that was hard to beat.

What's the best YES album?
