Christian Rap-Rock Meets Hasidic Reggae On New P.O.D. Album - Dec. 30, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: P.O.D.'s new album, "Testify", features a guest appearance by rising reggae star MATISYAHU on two songs, "Roots in Stereo" and "Strength of My Life".

The collaboration between a Christian rap-rock band and a Hasidic reggae performer may seem strange to the outside world, but P.O.D. singer Sonny Sandoval told Launch it was perfectly natural to him. "I've been a fan of Matis for, you know, a little over a year now, and people say the same thing, it's like, 'Well, you guys come from this Christian background, how could you be into this Rastafarian music?'," he said. "And it's like, wait a minute, this is a beautiful music. This is a music of faith and of Scripture, and for me to see Matis being Hasidic and doing reggae music, instantly I thought, 'You know what? This is absolutely beautiful.'"

"Testify" is due out on January 24 and features the single, "Goodbye for Now".

MATISYAHU is climbing the modern rock radio chart with his single, "King Without a Crown". He released his debut album, "Live at Stubbs", earlier this year. His new studio effort, "Youth", will be out on March 7.

The Pennsylvania native, whose real name is Matthew Miller, embraced the Lubavitch Hasidic form of Judaism several years ago after moving to New York City.

P.O.D. recently completed the Fall Brawl trek with STAIND, TAPROOT and FLYLEAF. The quartet has not yet announced tour dates for 2006.

Will this be the single best comedy album ever made..?

YES.

That is one of the funniest thread titles I've seen in a while, keep up the good work. Oh, and they're not a great band.

I don't know much POD, but Matisyahu is pretty good. Live at Stubbs is a good listen.
