Lennon Voted Top Icon
http://www.sky.com/showbiz/article/0,,5 ... 40,00.html

John Lennon is the greatest rock and roll icon of all time, according to music fans.

The former Beatle beat Elvis Presley and David Bowie to top the list of 100 best music icons voted for by readers of Q magazine.

In a special tribute, widow Yoko Ono said Lennon - who was assassinated in 1980 - was a "driven man".

She said: "He changed people's awareness in an incredible way.

"He was not afraid to tell the truth and give us a clearer picture of what was really going on."

She added: "Indeed, it is not an exaggeration to say that there was a world before John and the world after."

Here is the top 20:

1. John Lennon
2. Elvis Presley
3. David Bowie
4. Keith Richards
5. Kurt Cobain
6. Madonna
7. Bono
8. Bob Marley
9. Joe Strummer
10. Bob Dylan
11. Morrissey
12. Paul McCartney
13. Johnny Cash
14. Liam Gallagher
15. Eminem
16. Freddie Mercury
17. Mick Jagger
18. Robbie Williams
19. Jimi Hendrix
20. 2Pac

Yep. I think some doctor told Lemmy that he'd die if his "blood" was swapped with real blood; he'd die immediately..

What defines "rock icon"? I see a few rap artists and whatnot on there.

Johnny Cash should be higher up. He was a living legend, and he's still a legend now that he passed away. RIP. :(

Bob Dylan should be a little higher as well. Joe Strummer is about right.

Robbie Williams? :x

I have no idea what defines a rock icon but maybe Townsend, Page and Young would fit that list?

Pfffft. If you can rememember 80 bands, in order, you'd be ultra-hip.

To be honest I didn't plan on posting them, but I could write them down.
