My own personal review:
I got this the day it came out and I'm extremely happy with it. I'm a huge Jack Johnson fan so my review might be alittle biased but I'll try and keep it as on point as possible. When I bought it, I assumed that it was going to be two full length concert films. It's not... Their is alot of concert footage but as mentioned earlier their are some breaks inbetween songs that explain everything from his personal song writing approach to how he used to make music with Zach Gill of ALO in college. At first, I was alittle disappointed with it but I have grow to enjoy the background stories he provides. G. Love, ALO, Matt Costa, Donovan Frankeritier (I fucked that up), Money Mark (huge dork even if he was referenced in the Beastie Boys's song "Finger Licken Good") all get alot of facetime. With all of their appearances, I found alot of new music that I have come to enjoy that fits Jack's style very well. There are a few cool "jam sessions" with Jack, G. Love, Donovan, and Matt Costa. ALO have two full length songs (not positive) and I'm now sorry I didn't get into check them out when the played before Jack in Philly. The "Live in Japan" disc is shorter than the "Greek" disc but the Japan disc focuses alot on the Japanese culture. Overall, I would say that if you really enjoy Jack Johnson's music and have seen his shows I would definetly suggust picking this up. If your just a casual fan or are looking for a full length show, I would skip this one and check out his 8/13/03 Phoenix, AZ show @ The Dodge Theater first (It's been offered on this board a few times and where I got it). I haven't watched in about two weeks with all of the holiday confusion but I hope that helps.

thanks for all the info Ray, now if i can ask a few questions.
first is, how is the sound? the amazon reviews said that its hard to hear the music at the greek, and though i am intrested in more then just a concert DVD, i would be hopeing to enjoy listening to it as well as watching it.
2nd is, you list the bonus footage on disk one, are the songs live cuts, or like videos?
and 3rd, ive never seen jack live, but i think im a bit more then a casual fan, do you think im going to enjoy this set?
and thanks a ton for your help

I don't have the greatest audio setup, but the sound is fine for myself. The bonus footage on disk one is live. As long as you are a little more than a casual fan and a fan of live music in general, I think its worth it.

#1. To be honest, I did notice that the sound was alittle off. It's hard to describe but it sounds very slightly drowned out. I have my tv running through my stereo system and usually listen to all of my DVD's pretty loud, so it's not the biggest deal and I have completely forgotten about it.
I would give the sounds a 9.4/10 to get technical. Not a huge deal and I personally wouldn't let that be a deciding factor in purchasing it.
#2. Looking at the setlist I posted earlier, 7 of the 8 are full songs. "Ping-Pong" is just a short clip of Jack and Zach Gill playing ping pong a few hours before the show discussing some random stuff (I don't really remember). Before G. Love's song there is a little interview with him on Telegraph Ave. in San Fran (I believe) how he got started in Philly and then he jams with a street musician he meets. It then goes into him and Jack performing G. Love's "Rainbow" ( A great song in my opinion). Same goes for the Matt Costa section. Alittle interview and then him and Jack play a medley of songs.
#3. I think it would be a great introduction to one of his live shows and would suggest picking it up. Jack is real big into film/cinematography and it shows in the video. He has alittle bit of everything including a few surf scenes.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you out with anything else.
The sound: It's good. Heavy on the bass, but that's how the JJ-folks mix it all the time.
Overall: The set is worth getting. "Live in Japan" is a gem and so much fun to watch. "Greek" is also very good. Ok, you might get annoyed by screaming girls from time to time, but overall I wasn't too disturbed. The inclusion of the ALO, Matt Costas and G. Loves of this world is also really nice.
They could have made the set better (f.e. not disrupting the livesongs with interviews and such), but still it's fun to watch and 2 really good DVD's. I think I'll re-watch it this afternoon, looking forward to that.
I got the the DVDs for Christmas. I've seen JJ live once and watched the Brushfire surf movies. I like the interviews and personal info but I agree with previous reviews, it would be nice if the concert footage wasn't so broken up. As far as the sound, I've got a decent Infinity 5.1 system and it sounds awesome. A little bassy but I just dropped the sub levels a bit. I would highly recommend this for any music lover, not just JJ fans.
