If you don't like Green Day then it's your loss because this was one of
the best concert Ive seen this year.
Let's start with the worse: the opening bands: sugarcult and New Found Glory.. I will pass on the comments.. I was glad when it was over, even though NFG seemed like it was never going to END!!!
I didn't follow the suggestion of going there a little later so I wouldn't have to go through the torture, but I wanted the best spot in front of the stage and there you have it. Thus, I survived it....
Now the best Part:
And I don't know where to start. They opened with american idiot and others from the last album, did a lot of oldies then back to the album again, dedicating one of the Jimmy's songs to Johnny Ramone (damn I can't remember which one!!).
I got there at 7:30 and left at 11:15.. I don't understand how.. but didn't seem that long! But needless to say they sounded absolutely great!
Someone complain on an earlier post- review that they didn't do back to back songs and interacted too much with the crowd during and between songs.. I actually liked the fact that they improvise with the crowd so much, it's more fun, (otherwise I can just listen to my cd) Joe is a real performer and musician and it went exactly as I hoped it would be... With a lot of energy on stage during the all set, no dull moment. I had high expectations and i wasn't let down!
On this one, they stopped in the middle of one song, picked 3 random people to perform on stage, one that could play some drums, one that could play some guitar, and one that could play a little bass and had them finish the song on three cords with their instructions..
It was funny as hell... Joe gave his guitar to the guy that played it.. lucky kid.. I thought that was way cool.
They did other fun stuff, like a blues brothers style number with trumpets and saxophones, funny stuff.
during the encore, they did a cover of we are the champions and ended with good riddance.

ive seen them twice, once like two years ago, once about four years ago and they did the same thing with picking out audience members and letting them play

It was my first Green Day concert. But no matter how many times they do it, I think it's the coolest thing to do! I don't know of any other bands that do that... and give their guitar away just like that.

that would rock, I'd totally be down with jamming on stage with Green Day
