The half a dozen or so songs of there's I've heard have been great, but I don't think I ever put on an album.

Is this worth exploring?

That is, sadly, the only Cake album I own. But I love it a whole lot. I should get more of their stuff.

BTW Cake right now has the best selling album in the country, but it sets a record for the lowest selling number one album in history.

I lead that story with "Cake...is going the distance...in the shortest way possible..."

Cake is a great band. Start with any album. I'd rank their albums like this, though:

Comfort Eagle
Fashion Nugget
Prolonging The Magic
Showroom Of Compassion
Motorcade Of Generosity
Pressure Chief

Pressure Chief is the only album I didn't like that much. Really, you can listen to any other first or last, whatever. Showroom of Compassion is their most recent (just came out), so I wasn't really sure where to rank it yet.

A lot of hits (like The Distance) are from Fashion Nugget. Short Skirt... is from Comfort Eagle.

you definitely need to own fashion nugget. It seems all the records I've heard are good, but don't have that feeling of completeness that this one has.

Everyone needs Fashion Nugget, but I would start with Prolonging the Magic and then go to Pressure Chief. Different strokes for different folks, but I started listening to Cake when Fashion Nugget came out and the album that has gotten the most spins from me is Pressure Chief.

Frank Sinatra is one of those tracks that perfectly captures the spirit of a particular era in my life. There's no way that I can objectively rate that song, but to me it's a five star listening experience on headphones.
