This has been bugging me for a while. How exactly does a starving musician hire 3 classical trained opera singers and a small orchestra to play on his album? I'm debating if it's that every other band that just uses keyboards to get those things going on are really really cheap. Or the other side being that the members of Therion are really good at selling drugs, maybe it's both.

Maybe they volunteered. Do these Therion people tour? If they record an album with opera singers and an orchestra, the band will need them for the tour, yes? Perhaps the opera singers and orchestra thought they'd get some good publicity and future jobs out of it.
Maybe there was a deal reached with the band and record label where the singers and orchestra members would receive a cut of the royalties/profits from the album?
