i'd heard this name dropped sporadically when reading various music reviews over the internet and magazines. i didn't think much of it, since there are hundreds of bands i hear about everyday, and really do not have the time or money to discover all of them.

recently, however, i read about them in a tracks article featuring rem. i didn't realize this was a peter buck project. reading this article coincided with me dusting off my tribute to john lennon album, where the minus five covers power to the people. they don't do a bad job, with guitars that resonate and reverb all through the track. i see in the liners that lee ranaldo is featured as well, though i don't know if he is actually a member of the band.

so, i'm investigating this band's albums on amazon, and i see that they did one recently called down with wilco that features members of wilco and is a sort of commentary/homage to the yankee hotel foxtrot incident.

at 6 bucks used at amazon, i don't see why i shouldn't get this. has anyone else heard of this band?

I first heard of them from the Lenno tribute album and for a few years there I got Scott McCaughey mixed up with Matt McConaughey when I thought about the band. I got that sorted though.
