(CBS) Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004

Bob Dylan will appear on 60 Minutes, in his first television interview in 19 years. The music icon sat down with Correspondent Ed Bradley while on tour in Northampton, Mass. His interview will be broadcast on Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Dylan delves into several subjects in the intense interview, discussing his career, the burden of his fame, his difficult relationship with the press, and the relationship he had with his father.

He has recently written a memoir titled "Chronicles Volume One." The book's publisher, Simon & Schuster and CBS News are subsidiaries of Viacom.

This is so awesome. This is his first TV interview in 19 years. Chronicles was such a great read and made me like him so much more. this picture is kinda scary though, why the pants Bobby?

I liked Bob summing up being named #1 on Rolling Stone's Top 500 songs, that "this week" he's #1.

Too bad he did the Victoria Secret's advert awhile back.

Couldn't care less about the Victoria's Secret ad. He's Bob Dylan for Christ's sake.

He's just so badass.

Interviewer: What'd they want to talk about?

Bob: Politics. Organic farming.

Interviewer: What do you know about organic farming?

Bob: ..Nothin'.

As creator of this thread I feel obligated to comment. I thought it was terrific, Bob even though he's wierd you can tell is a genuinly nice person and just still doesn't know what to make of fame.

it certainly was much more comfortable-looking than his interviews in the 60s a la don't look back. with some of those interviews you just want to cringe for the reporter.

well done by ed bradley and bob too. it also made me want to go out right now and buy chronicles instead of waiting for xmas.

Why was Bob wearing the leather pants? 63 year old guys, even rock legends, should be in jeans or something.

That aside, it cracks me up that he will NEVER give a reporter the answer they want to hear. Whether it's 1965 or 60 Minutes in 2004, he's the same guy, toying with the media to keep himself mysterious and give them a big "fuck you" at the same time.

You go, Bobby Z.

it was an interesting interview.Bob Seemed angry and uncomftable couple of times (like the name change question). And it was interesting when he looked back at his songs and said it was like a different person writing thous amazing poetic wordplay and couldnt write stuff like that now.

And dissing the dumb Rolling Stone Magazine list was beautiful!

Plus, he told an interviewer in 1965 that he would be doing Victoria's Secret ads more or less.

I thought Ed Bradley did a great job. He asked everything and he was quick to fire back at Bob when Bob didnt give him the answer he wanted. Bob makes Eddie Vedder look like a dork. Thats not an easy thing to do.
