Last nite i saw Muse and The Exit again, and it was just as amazing as you'd think it would be. Muse opened with Butterflies and Hurricanes and completely blew evryone away. If you havnt seen / heard The Exit yet, you are behind in the times. My prediction is that The Exit will be one of the biggest bands of 05. Look out because they are AMAZING.
Now my rant...
I went to this show with my best friend (David), a girl i've been REALLY into for about a year (Erica), and one of her friends (Julie). During the Exit's set a group of 4 meat head ass clowns push their way infront of us and try to start a "mosh (more like grab-ass) pit" and crowd surf and what not. At this point i'm not really pissed off, but it's not my idea of the type of crowd i'd like to be in. The biggest guy makes 2 comments to my buddy and I that "If you're not moshing (grab-ass) then you dont like music" and this one really set us off..."I'm 6'5, nobody's gonna fuck with me".
By the time Muse came on we had tried to seperate ourselves from these clowns, but when the music started they just started shoving anyone and everyone in sight including girls which INFURIATED *big word* everyone around them. My friend and i are of the "hardcore" breed when it comes to "mosh pits" (We've survived the pit at Dillinger Escape Plan and Lamb of God which is saying quite a bit for 2 guys that are both about 5'9 140lbs) which means if you dont leave bruised and bloody, then you werent really in a "pit". Anyway, After Erica got shoved pretty hard and Julie took a boot in the head from one of them failing to crowd surf for the third time, David and I SNAPED. We jumped in the middle of the grab-ass "pit" and started throwing hailmakers and completely fucking up the scene. It seemed like everyone stoped and just looked at us funny. There was very little "moshing" after that.
Bottom line...If you want to start a "pit", make sure everyone in you're general area is down for the same thing. If they're not, make damn sure that there arent a few guys wearing Dillinger, and Hot Rod Circut T-Shirts, because we're fucking troopers.
There is the link to their website. My favorite songs are Dont Push Your Love Away, Lets Go To Haiti, Soldier, and Already Gone. I'v had their 2nd CD for a while now called 'Home for and Island' which is excelent. I lucked out and bought their first CD 'New Beat' at the show the other night after about a 5 month search.

There is of course the danger that your very actions caused the same feelings of acrimony that the "4 ass clowns" caused.

They were so awesome in Chicago.
I saw Muse in Chicago too, good concert....I don't see why everyone needs to get so damn rough at shows though. As soon as the band came on this group of sweaty douchebags pushed their way through the crowd (it was the most clautrophobic show ever) and there was like several waves of bodies rocking back and forth all because 3 or 4 people wanted to get closer. It sucked and somebody could have gotten hurt

That was nothing. I only went off on people during Stockholm because I wanted to get up front, and did, but you should go to a Deftones concert if you want claustrophobia.

Pfffffffft.
My bro was at the Darkest Hour concert in Nawlins. Nothing but drunk ass college kids slamming into each other.
Next up: Slayer/Mastodon

Muse is playing tomorrow night at a great small venue about 20 minutes from me and I am off of work that night. Only problem is that it is sold out. If I could only get tickets....
Woohooo!!! That was one of the best shows i've seen this year...well Mastodon anyway. They rolled into St. Louis on Halloween of all days. Mastodon is so goddamned amazing.
I dont know why i forgot to mention it before, but the two girls that went with us also got in on the action. Not as hardcore, but they were tossing folks around like it was that time of the month. I love girls who arent afraid to go psycho when they're provoked.
