I've heard that album Tilt. I was really odd and offputting, but interesting as well. I'll probably give it another try soon.

His 60s stuff is pretty great, he was a leader of a pop band before going solo. His work from the last 3 decades (which is only a couple of albums) is more avant-garde in the John Cale/Brian Eno/Apehx Twin style.

It's more avant garde in the sense that it's basically opera singing over apocalyptic music and all this other shit. Like I said, interesting stuff.

That's about right. It sounds like a description that might interest Geg.

I went to college with a guy named Scott Walker. We played frisbee in the halls.

The new album is unlistenable.. which I realise is the point, but it's why I'm not listening to it again.

the song is by the Walker Brothers (not Scott Walker). it's the title track on their second record released in the US. you might just want to get a compilation of the walker brothers. but scott 1-4 and his last three records (Tilt, The Drift, and Bish Bosch) are all great (if you don't have them)
