I know I skipped many, many great songs by all of those groups but it's for a gathering where most people don't know who the Pogues or Dubliners are. What are some of your guys' favorite Irish tunes?

That is my fav. for march 17 and the song "rye whiskey" by nick cave and the bad seeds.

-whiskey
-beer
-punch
-molly
-sally.

the Frames are so f'n amazing. seen 'em about a half dozen times, always blown me away. would actually love for them to tour w/ PJ sometime (maybe on some Irish dates? )

There was Johnny McEldoo and McGee and me

Nearly killed him with a few blows in no time at all

He threw an empty bowl at the shopkeeper's head

And the ructions did begin, and we all fought and bled

Now then, good Irish music. I'm struggling, I really am. I have stated on another thread that Irish music, in general, really sucks. I don't own one CD of an Irish band. Correction, I own one, "Luke's legacy", the great Luke Kelly. The only Irish singer to sing so beautifully that it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Are you talking about Irish traditional or Irish music in general?
