So i'm home eating lunch and i see a jc penney commercial and in the background is let my love open the door, by some shitty cover group. So naturally, i threw my lunch back up into a baggie and brought it out with the trash. arrrghhhh
Also, Rock n' Roll, pisses me off to no end on the cadillac commercials, i never want to be sick of that classic anthem, but leave it to corporate america to buy the rights to songs and put em' on their shitty commercials.

Please vent

I'm pretty sure the band has to agree to do this. You make it sound like corporate America is at fault but Pete and Led Zeppelin made the call to whore out their songs and make a shit load of money off of it.

the sad thing is, whenever i hear those songs now, i think of the commercial...well done corporate america...i can't remember who said that they'd never license their songs, because every time you hear led zep now you think of a goddamn car...some artist said something alone those lines...how's that for vague...

I haven't formed a concrete opinion about this issue yet, but I'm leaning toward... it doens't specifically bother me. I was one of those people who loved hearing Yellow Ledbetter on the finale of Friends. It made me really happy.... also, if it wasn't for rock songs in advertizing I wouldn't have discovered the buzzcocks or nick drake, both of whom I love. So, in a way it's a cool way to expose artists to a new fan base. There are some advantages.
