I know nothing about this band, so I'm relying on people here to inform me.

An friend of a friend recommended them so I recently bought "A Ghost is Born", and I really like about half of the songs. However, the other half of the songs all sound alike to me (I'm ambivalent toward them).

Should I bother getting any other albums? Are their other albums better than this one?

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is one of the ten best records of this century. You should buy it.

Their other albums are better than AGIB, although I still like it.

Get YHF and Being There next.

This will probalby sound repetitive since eveyone else has said the same thing but Yankee hotel Foxtrot is definatly the way to go.

also many of the songs on a ghost is born have really grown on me I have had the record for about 3 weeks now and like you i truely enjoyed half the album and thought the other half was just okay but they have almost all grown on me now.

Also check them out live if you can what a great show! I saw them at the Fox in Atlanta a few weeks back and they blew me away how good they were live.

pick up summerteeth. yankee hotel foxtrot will blow you away, but i think it should be heard only after summerteeth, which will equally blow you away.

why do i recommend it this way? because logic states that it's only when you have a firm grasp on rules and boundaries, only then can you artfully break them. which is what i believe the beautiful pop melodies of summerteeth set up for YHF.

All their CDs are awesome. I actually just got Yankee Hotel Foxtrot a few months ago, and now I own all of their cds. They have quickly become a top-5 band for me.

I never really l ike A Ghost is Born much, and then I saw them live, and it changed my whole perspective on it. Now I think it might be my favorite Wilco album.

By the way, they are incredble live.

While I recommend YHF as the Wilco album to get above others (followed closely by Being There), for any newbie listener I would recommend the following in order:

Summerteeth
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Being There
A Ghost Is Born
AM

Two weeks before I see three Wilco shows in Chicago. Good times!

OK, I've been listening to it on-and-off for a few weeks and I really like A Ghost Is Born. When I'm in the mood for something on the mellow side, WILCO seems to satisfy.

I'm going to get Yankee Hotel Foxtrot next.

Quint,

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is Wilco's Hardcore Death Speed Metal album.

Love,
Brian Bickersly

Thanks Brian. Now I'm looking forward to it all the more!

By the way, I made a copy of AGIB and popped it into my wife's car cd player (I do that because she loves music but doesn't have time to explore new stuff). And she really digs it too.
