only reason is because Schlock obviously has very well rounded taste and has heard a lot, yet British Sea Power tops his list. far from 'forgotten', I'd say.

People would rather spend 40 minutes laughing at some dork with a hilarious speech impediment rather than listening to what you and that other guy consider to be some of the best music ever made. And this is by no means an obscure band, that last album got a lot of advertising. Gamelife is the great indie DIY story, British Sea Power is just some band no one cares about

so what you're saying is as long as a ton of other people like 'em, you'll like 'em too.

Billiam, all King is saying is that really good albums stand the test of time. How can you disagree with this?

No one talks about most music that's more than a few years old. The album has got to be pretty special for anyone to remember it, and now Interpol don't have that newness to protect them from being compared to older bands. Now that they're part of the past there's really no use for them, they only seemed good compared to the other crap out there when they debuted. When you compare it to some of the great bands of the 70's which its fair to do now they're just exposed for the average band they always were.

yeah, keep comparing everything to your favorite bands from the 70's.

What albums from the 00s have held up?

The Constantines- Shine A Light
Paul Westerberg- Stereo / Mono
British Sea Power- The Decline of British Sea Power
Wilco- Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
My Morning Jacket- It Still Moves
The Fiery Furnaces- Blueberry Boat
Destroyer- Streethawk: A Seduction
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds- Abattoir Blues/ The Lyre of Orpheus
The Notwist- Neon Golden
Primal Scream- XTRMNTR
the Black Keys- Rubber Factory
Yo La Tengo- And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out
Mclusky- Mclusky Do Dallas
Sun Kil Moon- Ghosts of the Great Highway
Spoon- Kill The Moonlight
Sonic Youth- Murray Street

off the top of my head. but I should be listening to the Rolling Stones regardless, right?

and just to be clear, I do agree with the point you made concerning Interpol. you're right, when they were new everyone was excited, and now that that feeling has passed, no one (well, not as many as once did) sees it as quite so special anymore.

Kid A belongs on that list.

Doubt it. It's alright, but the me's of twenty years from now will not treat it like a piece of buried treasure when they find it.

TOTBL = great debut record

as for one of the better records post '00, wouldn't be much higher than 35-40-ish for me i think, just guessing

Antics had some great songs, but overall a fairly uninspired follow up

Why is it so important to rank things? I just don't get it.
