I've been listening to the Grateful Dead since the summer of 2006 when I graduated high school. And now I'm going through the biggest "Dead phase" I've ever went through. Since I've started torrenting on bt.etree I've been listening to 2-3 shows a day and been enjoying it all. I used to mainly listen to the 69-80 era. I was always a afraid to dive deep into the 80s and 90s and now that is what I'm obsessing over. I just picked up a use copy of View From the Vault IV DVD at the local music/head shop for $8 and it was well worth it. I just love the connection between Jerry and Brent. Such great tunes.

Nah, that was 90s after Brent died. At one point they had Bruce and Vince.

I've got Pandora on Dylan radio, and this really chill song came on that I started really enjoying. I'd never heard it before, but it sounded very earthy and laid back, so I checked out who was playing. I was pretty surprised to find out it was The Dead. The song was called Althea, and it's changing my opinions about TGD.

what were your opinions? i think the Dead were every bit as much a country-blues rock band as they were a trippers band.

the grateful dead were a great band that got misrepresented by their live show antics, their following, and the period when they came out.
seriously, they wrote some great songs and could cover anything.

The only period they sucked (IMO) was their disco influenced period.... Other than that, they were a phenomenal band on every front!
