While not officially been confirmed as real, a full acoustic demo of "Old Age" has surfaced. There are a couple of short songs at the beginning, not sure if they are intros to "Old Age" or 2 other songs. It sounds like Kurt to me, but you be the judge. It's very similar to the versions that Hole ended up releasing. It was allegedly recorded sometime in late 1992.

It sounds like someone's messed with this song in some way.. the vocals sounds like they were edited (slowed, reversed, whatever) until about 2:20. It certainly sounds like Kurt, though.

Where does stuff like this come from? Here I was thinking that the vaults (shoeboxes) had been emptied for the box set.
The vaults have most certainly not been emptied. If they don't have anymore studio material (which I doubt), they definitely have tons of live material. But anyway, material like this gets out when the people who have it decide it's time to release it. The answer seems obvious, but it's true. Where they got it from is another story. I suspect theft would be the easy answer, but it's probably true.
Anyway, you can read more about this song here and here

It's been 100% confirmed to be real. It's Kurt Cobain. It was confirmed last week by Nirvana ''insiders'' who were asked by well respected fans who run http://www.livenirvana.com That site has a load of information, the best of any of that kind i've ever seen!

Well it's always awesome when something like this leaks and finds it's way onto the Internet. I do know, though, that none of the tapes that Courtney Love has were considered for release on the box set (I think she's still hoping to release those as a seperate album), so this song could have come from one of those tapes...at least that's what I think, anyway.

Doesn't Courtney have the tape of "Do Re Mi" and other acoustic stuff Kurt did at home?
Ya, I think she's got over 100 various acoustic and demo tapes, which is where songs like "The Son" and "Ivy League" (which Courtney has talked about in various interviews) come from.

great song. i've never heard the Hole version, and i'd like to keep it that way.
Actually, it's a really good song. The intro to "Old Age" ended up on LTT at the beginning of "Credit In The Straight World." I wish the whole song had been included.

You're completely wrong.
LOOK INSIDE THE BOX SET!!! LOOK IN THE BOOKLET!!! (sorry for the caps lol)
Some of Kurt's tapes were definetly included. Those tapes are not all Kurt solo material, they are nirvana session tapes (copies), reheasrels, etc.
There are pictures of cassettes that are numbered in the booklet!!! Those are Kurt's Nirvana tapes
The first page reveals the FECAL MATTER (kurts first band, w/ dale crover) J-card!!
Other tapes revealed...
''Chris, Dale and I. Jan23 88'' #54
"sliver'' #66
''Bathtub is real. Kurt on KAOS'' #19
Others
What was NOT included were the songs Kurt wrote that we have no idea about. Only 1 song made it though, and that was ''Do Re Mi''.
There is probably an albums worth of Kurt solo material amoung those 100+ tapes.
Let's hope she goes through them and digs out the solo songs for us. She'll do it, she likes money, and we like the songs.

This was also stated in a Mojo magazine review of the box set at http://www.nirvanaclub.com/box/review-mojo.jpg; in fact, they plan to do a future article about the songs that did not make the box set, so this should shed even more light of the whole tape issue. Plus remember, this box set was compiled and ready to be made in 2001, before all of Love's lawsuits. So they had no access to that material then, therefore they had to fill 2-3 discs without any of those tapes, so I'm sure most of the stuff that was suppose to be on that version carried over to WLTO. And in their settlement, they agreed to release a greatest hits album with one new song [Nirvana], a box set [With The Lights Out], and a rarities album; so I'm sure that's when these tapes will be released.
And those tapes you listed seem like tapes that came into being before he met and married Courtney Love [Sliver, KAOS radio sessions, 1988 etc.], so Kurt should of had possession of these tapes without Love interfearing in the way. Plus remember, Krist, Dave, Chad and others could have had copies of these songs, as well as sessions/rehearsals/demos/etc., put on tape, too, so these could be tapes from the other members (which is where Blandest is sourced from; a cassette that Krist or Dave had). And since Krist was given a copy of the Fecal Matter demo, I would think that FM shot would be from the demo he got.
As for Do Re Mi, I'm sure she allowed that track (and maybe a few others) to be included, since she let others hear it before, but the rarities album will more than likely be the definitive look at what's on those tapes...or at least we can only hope.
