I'm sure you all know Blind Melon still plays without their late singer, but have any of you seen them play in the last couple years? Are they still really good?

I'm asking because my best friend's band was just invited to open up for them at some venue in Poughkeepsie, NY on June 25th -- which sucks for me cuz I will be at MSG seeing Pearl Jam. Still, he's really excited. First well known act they've opened up for. There's potential for more shows with them if Blind melon likes them too, which is realy cool. Just thought I'd share.

I haven't heard or seen them live with the new singer, but I listened to the new record. It's okay, but the guy has the pipes to pull off, what should be, a decent Shannon impression. The musicians in Blind Melon are are stellar. I would imagine they're still really good live.

And on the new album, it's good, certainly not bad and gets much better with repeated listens - definitely a grower, make sure you give it a fair chance!
