How does it compare to Porcupine Tree? If I like Porcupine Tree, is it worth a $21 ticket to see Blackfield?
No idea live. Completely different from PT though, music-wise. This is very mellow overall, almost nostalgically melancholy in its style and composition. It reminds me of some classic early 70's stuff, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I wanna say there are elements of either Floyd or Beatles, or both, but not exactly...
I like it

i only listened to it once. didn't really grab me.
i'll give it a few more tries for sure though.
I just got this and like about 2/3 of it. I wish there was more than just one song written by Steven Wilson though. I think the first 5 tracks and last couple are all very good. It's a nice change of pace album for now.

I was REALLY worried that Wilson only wrote one song, but it's better than I expected, given that fact. Besides Waving, there are three or four other solid tracks, and nothing really bad. Just like any other Blackfield album, it's solid, but not spectacular.

Yeah its pretty good stuff... not Steven Wilson's 'be all, end all' but pretty good... I'm looking forward to his collaboration with Akerfeld.
