Agadoo by black lace. That's the damned saddest song I've ever heard.

The Beatles. Everyone should know that.

Really though, if you know their history and think about John especially, this is a terribly sad song.

When I saw the thread title, this is the song that came to my mind:

I'm climbin' this ladder,
My head in the clouds
I hope that it matters,
I'm havin' my doubts.

I'm watchin' the skaters
Fly by on the lake.
Ice frozen six feet deep,
How long does it take?

I look out on peaceful lands
With no war nearby,
An ocean of shakin' hands
That grab at the sky.

I'm singin' this borrowed tune
I took from the Rolling Stones,
Alone in this empty room
Too wasted to write my own.

I'm climbin' this ladder,
My heads in the clouds
I hope that it matters.

Neil Young, Borrowed Tune

I dunno, Low - "Sunflower" is pretty fucking sad.

Saddest song ever is probably Taps though.

I really can't blame someone for not knowing the name of all the deep cuts to your favourite bands

It is pretty much assumed that everyone in OB must know the name of every Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young song, and probably some others.

Meh. I was just thinking about this song. Something from the Modest Mouse album reminded me of this song. A vocal melody in "Missed The Boat"?

I'm sure their are some sadder songs than "Carry That Weight" though.

I think of one sometime.

I would definitely assume everyone knows every song off Abbey Road, but I guess not.
