I really love this group. Here is a little bit of context to explain why:

I have always had a thing for techno, especially melodic techno with prominent female vocals. It's hard to find this kind of stuff, and a lot of it is foreign, which isn't necessarily a problem except that it isn't accesible. Also, a lot of the stuff you here is the same track just sampled and mixed a million different times. And I always seem to have been fairly picky; only a very specific genre of techno (or trance) was the kind I really was looking for, but I never really heard a lot of it.

That was hard to understand, I'm sure. Point is, Ladytron is fucking awesome. Technoish beats, powerful and interesting bass, some really cool synthesizer work, and beautiful vocals. All in a very stylish sounding arrangement and with creative but relatively pop-ish songwriting.

The only album I own of theirs is Witching Hour, but I have heard a lot of other songs from their earlier albums which I probably enjoy even more. I'm interested in picking up some more from them but I'm not sure where to start.

I consider myself decently well versed in terms of indie electronic stuff, but I would love to hear what people think about some similar bands I might not have heard of.

Some of the remixes from the last album are pretty good as well. Witching Hour has a lot of good moments, particularly "International Dateline". But if you haven't heard any other album of theirs, you should definitely pick up 604 and go on from there. Also, seek out Komeda What Makes It Go?

I thought this would be about the Roxy Music song. The band is just another product of that whole lame electro fad from two years ago. Meh.

My post was possibly a bit over-enthusiastic... but still, I really do like them.

I will say this for them: at least they're not Fischerspooner.

I like witching hour a lot. 'destroy everything you touch' , 'beautyx2', 'Amtv', 'International Dateline' are some of my favorites.

Light&Magic is ok, but it sounds pretty out-dated even though it's only five years old

Not to mention, they covered My Bloody Valentine and did a damn fine job of it.

I'd never heard their music before so I downloaded something. My first impression is good, but pretty poppy. They are opening for Nine Inch Nails so I'll soon get to know them better .
