another incredibly beautiful album from patty griffin. if you've never heard her, please do yourself a favor and have a listen. she's folk/rock/country-ish, and completely great.

i got to meet patty at a benefit concert she played last weekend. really nice lady, really amazing songwriter. i need to pick up the new album, i think she played several songs from it at this gig as there were several i didn't recognize.
rain and nobody's crying are two of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. and her cover of springsteen's stolen car is stunning.

Damn, I didn't know this came out already. She's definitely one of the coolest chicks in music right now.
I think I read something somewhere that stated when she sent her first demo tape to a record company, they released the album exactly as it appeared on the demo without any alterations. They thought the sound was perfect.

yes, i heard the same story about the first album- living w/ghosts. it's entirely acoustic guitar & patty, nothing else. stunning, it's soooo good.
i recommend ALL of her albums, but i really love impossible dream & children running through. i swear, my newborn son loves both albums and can be almost instantly soothed (sometimes to sleep... at 2am...) listening to her voice. thank you patty!

cool. my wife and i associate the song "Rain" with our oldest daughter, we used to play it sometimes to try and soothe her - seemed to work pretty well. amazing voice.

I may have to check this out for my little girl. She's 3 months now.

which is not to imply that she puts ADULTS to sleep... she's just a terrific songwriter- her lyrics are stunning- and her voice and the music really appeal to me. i like that you can't really define her- is she bluegrass? folk? alternative bluegrass folk-rock, maybe.
