I would think most here have never given this band a chance, but this is a damn fine record. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it has kind of an earthy feel to it. Even if the hit turns you off that much, I'd recommend that you at least give the album a try. Much of their material is a lot more upbeat. All in all, I'd say this is a tragically overlooked gem.

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm...

I owned this album when I was a teenager but never listened to it all the way through. It's not exactly at the top of my list 13 years later.

Haha, I've actually heard this album pretty extensively because my Dad has it. His voice really is incredible, no doubt about it. The song about going on camping trips, I forget the name, is awesome. But I agree, great album.

Fantastic album.

Fantastic voice.

Fantastic musicians.

Everything about this group was incredible except they played adult contemporary music. Most of it I really enjoyed but some of it was pretty terrible. I also like their version of The First Noel.

How were they percieved in the US? They were a sizeable group in Canada.

In the US, no one gives a flying fuck about them and they've written them off as one hit wonders. I've read that they have a pretty legitimate following in Canada.

Antiyou is right about the album, folks. It's really good.

awesome baritone voice... didn't the lead singer have a solo album out in the last 4 years or so?

Oh man, blast from the past. I was all over this album when I was 13 or 14.

Another great tune they did, not on this album though, is called "Keep a Lid On Things" ... I'm gonna go look for it now. :) Thanks for this, Mowbs!

I have this album and it is great.

There are a good handful of gems on it. How Does a Duck Know, The Psychic, God Shuffled His Feet, Swimming in your ocean, Think I'll Disapear Now, Here I stand before me and IN the Days of the Caveman...all great songs!!

9/10.

Excellent record.

I've heard their other stuff it's pretty good, but the one that Brad Roberts supposedly did on his own...is ehhh. Not sog ood.

Blast from the past is right! I heard them open for Elvis Costello at Great Woods (outside of Boston, it has a new name now) in about 1993 or 94. I also heard them at the Fillmore a few years later. Lots of fun to see live. The singer has an amazing voice. I still listen to this album occasionally. I think it has held up well.

This thread actually made me go and search the album out. It's actually in one of my CD towers - though I don't think it's been played in years and years. I'm adding a few tracks to my iPod now :D

I actually completely forgot about these guys. But I dug the album out and gave it a spin, and it's honestly been the highlight of my day.

Then again, my day has consisted of forking out $300 to my mechanic, drinking cheap lager and playing GTA:LCS.
