...if they were adapted to that medium. I'm listening to Neil Young's Tonight's the Night and for some reason it's just so cohesive in displaying a time/place/culture that I think it would make a potentially great movie. Hence the idea for this thread.
Now I don't mean full-fledged concept albums (Tommy, Dark Side of the Moon, OK Computer), but instead albums that just present an overall feeling within the song's narratives that all the stories could intertwine to combine for a movie experience. Not every song has to deal with the same theme, but the album as a whole has to have some thematic coherence. Some other examples, off the top of my head:
VU - The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska (which, by the way, contains the song Highway Patrolman which Sean Penn turned into the movie the Indian Runner)
The Strokes - Room on Fire
X - Los Angeles
Wu Tang-Clan - 36 Chambers
The Ramones - The Ramones
R.E.M. - Automatic For the People
I'm sure there's more but that's all I'm coming up with right now.

i was going to come into this thread all guns blazing about how they should make a movie based on tommy and haha they did and it sucked, and you've completely obliterated any chance of me doing that with your very first post, frank. now this thread is worthless.
i suppose pinkerton by weezer, if you're like, a tryinmorning style emo kid or something. or belin by lou reed if you just feel like the world should commit suicide because it's so fucking depressing.

The Hold Steady- Separation Sunday I was actually thinking of how this album could make a great movie last night. Weird that this thread should pop up.
