Nice job to both of you in our battle of the frenchmen.
A similar laid back, clean feel to both songs that were very evenly matched. Vote goes to walter, although it is close. I felt like his cover captured what seemed like the essence of his song a little better.

I really liked both songs...nice and simple, but effective. I think walter pulls this one out. Nice harmonies...better recording quality than in some of your other stuff.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the votes. Xwayne has made a really nice cover choice. I like Frusciante's solo work and Xwayne really did a good job in this one.
For my recording quality, as said in the old threads, the previous entries i submitted were rehearsal recordings : a band and two mikes with no overdubs or studio tricks of any kind so the sound was a bit rough. This one I made last week with my old Fostex multitrack tape recorder and passed it in the comp (soundforge) for a bit of compression. This is as close as home-studio-ing as I can get .

Nice job Walter, it's strange to hear both songs, mine after yours, I totally left out the production work ! I don't think I'll make it to the next round, it's been a fun ride, I have now to finish 1 song and some lyrics for a live show in two weeks, can't wait !

I voted for Xwayne. Both were very nice covers and very evenly matched. I chose Xwayne because his singing was better. I think Xwayne could have gotten more votes if he had turned up the guitar a little. ( Also to me it seems like the song has verses and Pre-Chorus, I was always waiting for the "pay-off"/chorus) I still liked it enough to get my vote good job
I pulled up both originals, both good songs. The doubled singing in Walters chorus in the end forced me to chose Xwayne. Walter good guitar work.

okay--my wife stayed home to finsih some work on the computer where i have the songs saved, so this mornings round will start at 11 or so, but the match goes to Walter. Congrats Walter and I'm sorry to see you go Xwayne . Hopefully you'll be back for the originals contest (after the PJ olympics)

WhyGoDeep sounds like Mick Jagger singing CSN. The high notes in the chrous weren't there but I loved the Rolling Stone vibe. You have a good band brother.
IC Light Years...if whygodeep had the Stones vibe your tone reminded me of Santana...awesome leads....just wish your singer was a little higher in the mix. The drummer was awesome too. His parts sounded complicated.
Vote goes to WhyGoDeep by just a little...it had a lot of energy...I can see this one going to overtime...
edit...I think I can't hear the high parts in WhyGo's song cause of my lousy speakers...I think they are there...I've listened to the song like 6 times...it's my fav of the tourney for sure....awesome...

Alright, so this piece dates back to 2004, a week or two before the '04 presidential election, and this was another song we recorded to give my voice some practice (although I chose this song for its political bent, as well). There are spots where my voice is a bit out of tune, but it's a pretty good performance overall, and I actually do all the harmonies on the track, as well.

two AMAZING songs for this round. both are going into my GH nomination pile
I'm leaning a little more towards IC at this time. I felt it had a little bit more character. But it is close, and both of these need more listens
Nice harmonies and strong vocals overall whygodeep, by the way. I wasn't a big fan of your One, but this one is just terrific
Fantastic job to both of you. it isn't fair that one of you will be eliminated here

WOW!! Boths songs Rock! No way I can decide right now without a few more listens to each.
Whygodeep, it would have been cool if the lead singer sang the harmony during the chorus and let another member of the band take over lead vocals like CSN (just to get two different sounding voices). Recording sounded great. Great levels on everything. Real good singing.
ICLightyears - turn up the vocals, she has a great voice. Band was tight, liked the keyboard. Excellent Job.
Again this one will require more listens, because both are great. I know we are pretty far along in the contest, but it still seems too earlier for both of these to be going up against each other. Both would have crushed anything I could put together.
