Dinosaur Jr. weren't meant to make perfect albums. It just isn't rock and roll. Sebadoh on the other hand understood all along how rock music was meant to be made.

I've tried to listen to Sebadoh, but I can't suffer through it. I find Lou Barlow's non-melodic, bass driven rants a lot more self-indulgent than post-Lou Dinosaur Jr is, and that's saying a lot.

His two songs on Beyond are quite good.

Did Lou write any of the songs that he sings on the first Dinosaur album, or were they all J's compositions?

All were written by J.

Alright then. I pretty much don't like Lou's compositions.

So you like any of his on the new album? Back to Your Heart is, IMO, one of the best on the album.

Yes, I do. In fact that's why I was so surprised that the only compositions of his from the early days are the two worst songs on YLAOM, and that he didn't even write the songs he sings on the first album.

Poledo was the first true lo-fi song. It was the first time anything like that had been done. You can't really say anything against it.

It's unlistenable.

I could be the first to record myself pissing in a steel bucket in 5.1 audio, but it would still suck.

As I've just been getting into these guys lately I've realized the only album I have of theirs with the original lineup is Beyond. Where You Been and Green Mind are the only other two I have and I love them. Where should I go next? Bug?

I'm not a big fan of 90s Dino Jr (their 80s material + Beyond is more my thing) but Out There is a magnificent piece of fuzzed-out pop chunk.

That bridge, oh man, that bridge.

Im rediscovering this one...specially because of Get Me...This is such a great, great song..the lyrics are classic J Mascis, i just love them...the way the song starts and it builds to that amazing solo at the end...classic Dino.

The main guitar solo in Start Choppin' is engraved on my brain.

Seeing them in February. It's weird. I've been meaning to give this band some decent listening for years, never got to it and now they're playing a venue pretty much next doors in a venue where I have pretty much free entry. So well, about time I start listening to this band, eh?

Great Show!
i was expecting something this good, but hell, they were really good...
J is such a different guitar player..he is channeling some neil young right there, he reminds me a lot of neil , because of how he moves, how he sings and his skills with the guitar.
Of course, i was watching Lou all night, im really happy they did Rude.
Highlights for the night for me: Feel the pain ( fuck i adore this one...specially these days), Start Choppin, Out there, Watch the corners ( the new songs sounded great), the wagon...fuck all the setlist was great...they didnt play much from farm and beyond and i needed Get me too, but no complains here.

Got the last one in cd too...arrived late and couldt buy the vinyl...
