it seems that everyone says how much "they rock" in their live shows - but the majority of their studio songs are quite mellow. are the live versions that much different from the studio?

is there a reason people refuse to answer my question. fuck.
guess ill just have to wait and see for myself.
I'll try and answer this...I've only seen them open for Wilco this past June, but they blew me away with the 9 songs they played.
Alot of the softer songs seem more tangable, as the reverbe on the James's voice isn't as prevalent live as it is on the studio tracks. Rockers like Magheeta, One Big Holiday, and Run Thru blow your hair back, and just watching Jimmy James play the guitar makes the experience 100% better than what I thought it was gonna be...he's a huge burly moutain man who goes crazy when he trashes on his electric...
When they slow it down with numbers like Golden and at Dawn, the entire band just shines....Its seriously perfect, and I can't wait to see them again on October 14th...a full set from MMJ should be fantastic.
Wow, this thread is growing nicely. I got my tickets for the Philadelphia show already. Anyone who has yet to see this band live will be in for quite a treat
i'm liking It Still Moves a good bit, i'm sure i never will as much as some of you..but i love the music, the vocals will take some time to get more used to
i caught the bright eyes austin city limits awhile back. james did 'golden' solo acoustic and it was beautiful
are you.........a fan, spike?
i've liked what i've heard, but don't listen too much. i saw them on a late night show a couple years ago, and it rocked. you didn't see jim james' face the entire time.
