I just had to say thanks for expanding my music horizons! From this board I have begun to listen to a much wider variety of music that I would have had no way of finding before

My current favorites are Mars Volta (deloused just kicks butt, I can't stop listening to it) and Modest Mouse. I'm not so sure about Interpol and Wilco but they are good.

any other suggestions of what to get?

Well the obvious question is if you like the mars volta a lot have you checked out At the Drive in? If not get their album Relationship of Command. It is not as experimental as the mars volta ( not sure if experimental is a good work but none of the long drawn out intros and solos etc), but it is good straight up hard nosed music. I love that album

If you like modest mouse i would suggest checking out Built to spill. You could start with the live album of theirs i guess. Especially if you happen to me a neil young fan it has an incredible 18 minute cover of Cortez the Killer.

If you are not into neil young you need to go buy live rust immediatly.

Also a band i recently got into thanks to some people on the board here is Minus the Bear. I have Highly Refined Pirates and it is a great album. I'm upset i have not been listening to them before this

So in review for your homework if you have nto already you must check out:

At the Drive in- Relationship of Command
Built to Spill- Live
Neil Young- Live Rust
Minus the Bear- Highly Refined Pirates
