My missus just bought me this book. Neither of us new nothing about it. Didn't know the author-nothing.She knows I like rock and music industry biographies, so she bought me this book because:
A. It has a sticker on the front that says: "Rock Music! Death! Crazy People! Love!" B. The blurb on the back: "One of the best books ever written by a comtemporary artist"-Pete Townshend and "The Kurt Vonnegut of rock"-Rolling Stone. (She knows I like Keith Moon stories and she knows I love Kurt Vonnegut).
I wasn't impressed when I saw the title: "Things the Grandchildren Should Know". But, I gave it a go.
So, I'm nearly done reading it, and it's fucking great. A bit on the slim side, but a really good read. I've never heard the Eels music in my life, and I dunno if I ever will. I only realised it was written by a geezer from the Eels about halfway through when he mentions forming the band all. Great read.

New Eels Album Coming in January
Back in June, Eels released Hombre Lobo: 12 Songs of Desire, their first album of new material in nearly half a decade. Reviewing the platter, Pitchfork's Ian Cohen said, "Considering [Eels mastermind Mark] Everett's prolific nature, restless manner with aliases, and disdain of the music industry, you'd figure the internet age would result in an outpouring of more Eels material than ever before." Well, it looks like that outpouring is about to get a belated start. Eels will have another full-length out before the weather gets warm again.
On January 19, Eels will release an album called End Times. Everett-- better known as E-- recorded most of the album's 14 tracks in his basement studio. This marks Everett's quickest-ever between-albums turnaround.
Eels recently released a video for their song "That Look You Gave That Guy", starring the ridiculously beautiful "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi, who totally kisses Everett at the end. So, uh, there's that.
