I hooked up with a now famous person a really long time ago who loved the Eels album from '98. She listened to it all the time.
I bought his album in 2003, with a black cover, and tried to listen to it, but just didn't, well, it didn't find me.
Respected both albums I heard, just neither were albums I'd ever play.
that's shootenanny... that's my least favorite. still damn good album, but don't write them off until you have at least 5 spins with electro-shock blues. especially if you really read the lyrics. it's one of my top 10 albums of all time.

The music sorta reminds me of Beck at times. I really like that album you sent.
Yeah people often mistake his voice for beck. He also does a lot of looping and sampling like beck. Overall I'm more of an Eels guy than a Beck guy. Let me know when you need another Eels album. If you tell me what songs you like on it I can give you one that will most likely go next. Electro-Shock Blues is by far one of my favorite albums of all time. Easily top ten.

Have a good time with it, Ryu. Feel free to talk to me about it. I'll suggest any later unless you would rather have windedsailor's word which is COMPLETELY understandable.
