Death Cab's Narrow Stairs Gets Tracklist, Release Date
You need dexterity to navigate Narrow Stairs, but all you'll get here is a tracklist and a release date to help you through Death Cab for Cutie's previously reported sixth full-length studio offering.
Stairs follows up 2005's Plans and descends May 13 on Atlantic, according to a Billboard.com report. This thing packs in 11 tracks, boasting typically heavy-handed titles like "I Will Possess Your Heart", "You Can Do Better Than Me (But I Can't Do Better Than You)", and the truly devastating "Your New Twin Size Bed". Death Cab, you slay me.
UPDATE: Apparently, the tracklist reported on Billboard.com and printed below is not yet finalized.
Opening track "Bixby Canyon Bridge" apparently clocks in at nine minutes, so you may want to save that one for the end of your mixtapes. A Narrow Stairs tour, meanwhile, is inevitable but not yet announced. For now, we'll have to settle for appearances at Coachella and Bonnaroo.
In other news from camp Death (ooh, spooky!), Chris Walla's Field Manual is on shelves now, and a digital version of Ben Gibbard's Kurt Cobain: About a Son score with Steve Fisk will be arriving shortly (with a vinyl version to follow, er, longly).
Narrow Stairs:
01 Bixby Canyon Bridge 02 I Will Possess Your Heart 03 No Sunlight 04 Cath 05 Talking Bird 06 You Can Do Better Than Me (But I Can't Do Better Than You) 07 Grapevine Fires 08 Your New Twin Size Bed 09 The Remainder 10 Pity and Fear 11 The Ice Is Getting Thinner
Cute Cab...of DEATH!!!:
04-26 Indio, CA - Empire Polo Field (Coachella) 06-12-15 Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo

has this leaked yet?
only the single
unsure what to think of the single so far...
the album version is 8.5 min long, with a pretty repetitive 4.5 minute intro. once the actual song part comes in it's pretty good. not overly catchy or anything. sounds like they've definitely branched out on this one, which after Plans is good to hear.

yeah thats what i posted above for a couple minutes, i thought it was one of those loop promos, i was almost reporting it but when the song really starts, its very good feels like im going to prefer the radio edit

New Music: Death Cab for Cutie: "I Will Possess Your Heart" [Stream]
I must confess that I'm not the biggest Death Cab for Cutie fan in the world, but their new record Narrow Stairs is coming in May-- their first full-length in three years-- and their sizable fanbase is understandably excited. "I Will Posses Your Heart" is the first single from the record; it seems an unsual choice for that position and is not what comes to mind when I think of the band: eight minutes long, slow to build, more mood and suggestion than tune, with Chris Walla's production sounding like he's been listening to Daniel Lanois. But then Ben Gibbard's voice enters about halfway through, and it could be no one else.
