I have owned all their records at various points. And they've shown up infrequently in my listening consistently over the last 10 years.
I also saw them once and was bored to death. It was like they took everything from the Stones show that kept it from godlike, and subsequently left out all the best parts. Pomp, a little bit of which was disguised as circumstance, and a vocal stretch that was basically 2 1/2 hours of some guy mimicking Paul McCartney's yeah-yeah-yeahyeah's from Hey Jude.
I felt like I was watching a circus bear read a little girl's diary, with clowns and everything. And the crowd ate it up. Ate. It. Up.
I love some of their recordings, and none of their records is really terrible. Even the ones people call terrible. But this band is as interesting as RHCP to me...some fantastic moments, some real drivel, and a lot of embarrassment.

I only owned 4 Aero albums (TITA, Rocks, Pump, and Get a Grip) prior to the release of Guitar Hero Aero.... recently downloaded the albums I didn't have.... and I gotta say that I like the first one and Nine Lives the most. And while Just Push Play wasn't a great album, it was better than I had feared it would be.

say them live like in 02 or something, and i thought they were pretty good.
it's been a long time since i intentionally listened to any aerosmith, but i recently rediscovered "a little south of sanity" and it is a great hard rockin live album. steven tyler's voice is great on that one.
also, a couple weeks ago i saw on youtube a vid of them jammin to immigrant song with jimmy page. it kicks ass.

They used to play the Peter Gun theme in the middle of this song live. I've also see them do the jam part of Dazed & Confused. Good times.
If fans eat it up, it's because that shit tastes good.

Nine Lives kicks ass. The title track is one of the most fist pumpin, ass stompin things they've ever done.
That Peter Gunn Theme/D&C was fucking sick. I saw it '94, right around the time they played Woodstock (they did it there as well.).
And another good point, Nine Lives does indeed kick ass. The title track, "Full Circle" and "Something's Gotta Give" are three awesome songs. Too bad old age is gonna derail these guys if it hasn't already. They've been seemingly gone for quite some time. Tom Hamilton has cancer or something and Tyler's not looking too good these days.
At least Joe Perry has his "special sauce" that he sells and his sons' band to carry on.

Tom Hamilton is all done with his cancer treatment. He looks pretty good. Ready to get back out on the road. Tyler's mom just died, but he ended singing on Walk This Way at Billy Joel's Shea Stadium show. He doesn't look that bad either:
Don't be surprised if these guys keep the train a rollin' for a few more years. They've been through a lot worse.
