why melvins lite???
that's the name they've adopted when playing as a 3-piece with Trevor Dunn. the 4-piece version of the band with the guys from Big Business is still alive as well.

anybody listening to the new Melvins EP?
the first two tracks and the last one are fairly standard Melvins fare but the combo of Friends Before Larry and A Really Long Wait is exactly what i want to see the Melvins doing more of. Structureless jams and ambient soundscapes. The latter song actually reminds me somewhat of GYBE with vocals. I'm really enjoying those two right now.

I've listened to it several times. Definitely enjoyed it. I actually managed to secure a free physical copy of this from Scion A/V, which should arrive in the mail shortly...limited pressing!
I'm curious about this "Melvins Lite" thing. If I had to guess, I would say that it'll lean towards their more direct sounding stuff.

I caught the "lite" incarnation this weekend. It was pretty awesome, they played in this real shithole of a basement for about 100 people.
Hammerhead, Gay Witch Abortion, and Seawhores opened.
Hammerhead ruled.
