So out of nowhere, I find that I have the urge to buy a Nine Inch Nails DVD. Anyone have a good suggestion on what their best DVD offering is? I haven't checked their website yet, but I'm pretty sure they have a few that they have put out.

They're both fantastic in their own different ways.
BYIT was filmed in HD, so it's the better one if you're looking for great picture quality.
AATCHB has more of a guerilla approach to filming, some of it was even filmed by fans in the audience who were handed cameras by the NIN crew. Still excellent quality, however. The only real downside is that It's made up of footage from about a half dozen shows, so the continuity isn't so great.

I wish Closure was still in print, that was their best video by far. It's only on VHS and was only for sale from 1997 until 2000 I think. And All That Could Have been is fucking awesome though. Get that. Beside You in Time is alright but AATCHB is slightly more kick ass. They were gonna release another one but Interscope Records wouldn't allow permission for NIN to have songs from when they were on the label.

The Closure dvd can be found on tpb - trent posted it as a sort-of christmas present for fans and a fuck you to interscope a couple years back - there's a 2 disc DVD-9 set that has a bunch of bonus stuff not included on the VHS - it's definitely worth grabbing.
Beside You in Time is better than AATCHB in terms of production value, sound quality and extras, especially if you have an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player and get the corresponding HD/Blu-Ray disc - it's also really good on standard DVD.
AATCHB, however, is an excellent document of what many would consider the peak of NIN - the setlist is awesome and they still had that quasi-destructive edge that made their earlier live shows so awesome.
I'm more likely to watch BYIT than the others, but that has a lot to do with how it looks and sounds.
Notwithstanding what happened with Interscope and this tour, it's probably still likely that we'll see a DVD from this tour - the problem that trent ran into was related to getting funding from Interscope for the 3D production (because they would have seen royalties from whatever earnings were attributable to the songs they hold the copyright to)... rob sheridan and a bunch of other people have been spotted filming, so there's cause for optimism...

oh man, i forgot about that Closure DVD. i think i'm going to have a few beer and watch that tonight.
Anyways, i'll echo the sentiment of others in that BYIT does look better (especially if you have a Blu Ray player) but AATCHB is probably a better performance. If you have Blu Ray capability though, definitely go with BYIT.
Or just buy both, cause they're both awesome and better that 95% of other bands concert DVD's.
So my plan to go buy a DVD got sidetracked and I ended up just downloading The Slip and listening to it for the first time. I like it pretty well so far. The first six tracks, minus 1,000,000, and Demon Seed really stood out to me on the first listen. And for some reason, "discipline" keeps making me think I hear Chris Cornell on backing vocals.
If I ended up grabbing the DVD later I think I'm leaning towards BYIT; I'm interested in seeing that particular line up of the band with Freese, Aaron North and Twiggy
