I'm looking for something I can listen to before i go to sleep. Something that isn't noisy as fuck, or has a lot of big low beats. I hope it makes sense.

I've recently been enjoying
http://www.myspace.com/ramesesiii

The acoustic bits are kind of nice and relaxing, a bit of drone adds nicely, and a nice atmosphere. Fennesz is another nice one, but not really for this situation lol. I'm not always in the mood for drone/ambient or whatever it's called now, but BH turned me to Fennesz and Belong. I love the use of guitar in the drones (not positive if Belong does).

http://www.undomondo.com/alarm/new_yaki--grain_elevator.mp3 is extremely interesting too.

Also, something interesting besides the typical choices please :S I don't want to see Max Richter, Peter Broderick, and a ton of that violin/piano ambient stuff that everyone recommends already.

Grouper - Way She Crept

Should be exactly what you're looking for.

Eluvium and Stars of the Lid, though they're not obscure recommendations, have always done the trick for me.

start downloading WFMU's dronecast?

I've been listening to Earth's Living In The Gleam Of An Unsheathed Sword before bed lately. A little noisy I guess? Too big of a name?

What about The Bees Made Honey In the Lion's Skull? That one's pretty mellow.

i don't really know what drone/ambient is, but songs: ohia -- ghost tropic is pretty good for before bed, at least for my part. bunch of weird noises like birds chirping and not a ton of singing, just instruments and atmosphere.

Do you want more?

You're getting recommendations kind of all over the map so I dunno. I've got a lot more actual drone/ambient in mind.

Also William Basinski - Disintegration Loops III is probably the easiest music to fall asleep to ever. It's like counting sheep times infinity. Plus, it's an incredible album.
